canadiancoins.com is a slam dunk
Jun 25th, 2008 by Richard
Why are the folks at Bido selling the house domain canadiancoins.com ??
The domain is a slam dunk for development and easy earnings from affiliate offers and PPC.
I think Bido has given us a gift with this domain.
Search results
According to google there are 554000 results for canadian coins and 329000 results for “canadian coins”
Those are decent numbers. These numbers tell me that there is search interest in canadian coins but the term is not too competitive. So you will be able to rank your new domain canadiancoins.com within the top search results fairly easily.
If you plan to develop the site, then you must have a reasonable chance of ranking the new domain on the top search results of google.
Site development
Development of this domain is going to be a breeze. There is plenty of online and offline content, books, magazines, guides, CD-ROM’s and more that you can use to build 1000 pages of content for the domain.
I’d build a catalog, an article section and a blog on the site.
From looking at the other sites ranked in google, getting quality backlinks to a site with relevant pages will also be a breeze.
With 1000 pages of good content and quality backlinks to the site, you will get relevancy and rank in google. With relevancy and rank, you can get higher payouts from Adsense.
Where the money is made
Google Adsense pays you to paste their ads on your web pages.
There are 20 results for canadian coins in the Adwords keyword tool.
The Adwords traffic estimator reports 136 to 186 clicks per day, for $140 to $240 total cost for the 20 results in the Adwords keyword tool. Wow, $240 per day!
Ebay has an affiliate program that pays $25 for each for new user signup and 50% of the revenue ebay earns on each sale.
The ebay results for canadian coins show about 3000 completed ebay auctions for the past 2 weeks and 3000 active ebay auctions for the next 7 days. Who can tell which ones and how many of them will close with a winner, but with 3000 active listings for the next 7 days, you have a good chance of closing a few of these auctions.
The final numbers
I am going to be very conservative and expect the lowest earnings possible so that I can be pleasantly surprised if the earnings happen to be higher.
Adsense - Let’s say that you get 5% of the traffic, at the low rate of $140 per day. That totals to $2,555 per year.
Ebay - Let’s say you get one new signup per week and $2 per day in the 50/50 revenue split. That totals to $1,300 + 730 or $2,030 per year.
So we have a total of $4,585 per year in earnings. Let’s say you sell it after year one for a 5X multiple of earnings, that’s $22,925.
What do you think canadiancoins.com is worth?

What a great Post! It doesn’t get clearer than your explanation of the potential minimum revenue this domain can generate . Thanks!
I like how you broke down the earning potential here.
Final price, $1,167.00. Someone got a deal!
@Big E
Wow, someone sure did get a deal !! That was a great price.
“The Adwords traffic estimator reports 136 to 186 clicks per day, for $140 to $240 total cost for the 20 results in the Adwords keyword tool. Wow, $240 per day!”
Hi, I am not so experienced with Adwords, so could you please make it a little bit more clear. The sentence above means that you will have to pay $240 per day for the Adwords campaign.
And how did you come up with “That totals to $2,555 per year.”
I don’t get it.
@Kosmanto
If you put ‘canadian coins’ into the Adwords keyword tool, you get about 20 keywords that you could target as an advertiser. Then, if you put those 20 keywords into the Adwords traffic estimator tool, you get a report showing the possible number of daily clicks and possible daily budget cost. This is the budget if you were to advertise these keywords on google and pay google for the ads. Google estimated a budget of $140 to $240 per day to buy all the keywords.
Now you have to assume that you will not earn anything close to the budget if we were to be the seller of these ads with the google Adsense. So I estimated that you might get 5% of the budget, and I calculated it against the low end of the budget which is $140. So 5% of the $140 daily budget is $7 per day that you could possibly earn with Adsense. And $7 x 365 days works out to $2,555 for the year.
